No sector lives up to its name quite like this one! From here, you can look out across the entire western side of the Pyrenees all the way to the Atlantic Ocean (you can even spot the Statue of Liberty... “very, very small, of course”).
As the highest point of the La Pierre Saint-Martin ski area, the Horizon sector offers 360° views across the spectacular Pyrenean landscape. The slopes wind their way through dramatic karst formations and mountain pine forests.
This sector is as impressive for its views as it is for the quality of its skiing. Experienced skiers can enjoy wide red and black slopes, perfect for carving big turns and tackling sporty descents with over 700 m of vertical. Families and beginners, meanwhile, can explore the ski area’s wide, gentle boulevards: Boulevard des Pyrénées and Boulevard des Myrtilles.
With its bright open spaces, snow-covered forests and endless horizons, this sector perfectly captures the spirit of La Pierre Saint-Martin: skiing in nature, with plenty of space and exceptional Pyrenean scenery all around.
The Arlas & Contrebandiers sector

Once upon a time, smugglers used these mountains to move discreetly from one valley to another. Today, the only traffic allowed is a stream of well-carved turns on slopes with more rhythm than a night at Coco Bongo with Jim Carrey. Welcome to the Arlas–Contrebandiers sector, the most fun ski-in, ski-out playground in the ski area.
The Braca Nordic area

Yes, La Pierre Saint-Martin is more than an alpine ski area: it also boasts a fantastic Nordic area!
There’s no need to race downhill here. Instead, take your time and enjoy the scenery kilometre after kilometre, with snow-covered forests, high-altitude plateaux and wide-open views across the Pyrenees.
Whether you love cross-country skiing, enjoy snowshoeing or simply fancy trying an electric fatbike ride or a dog-sledding adventure, Braca is the perfect natural playground for slowing down, taking in your surroundings and enjoying the great outdoors. Its 25 km of trails wind through a pristine environment, away from the bustle of the resort, with nothing but the crunch of snow beneath your skis, snowshoes, sled or tyres for company at times.
Between wild forests and wide-open spaces, Braca is an invitation to experience the Pyrenees at their most natural. A chance to discover another side of the mountains at La Pierre Saint-Martin.

La Pierre Saint-Martin is made for families. Its compact, easy-to-navigate ski area, well-organised base area and family-friendly slopes make it an ideal resort for first turns on snow and fun days out together. The lifts are easy to access, the routes are well signposted and the relaxed atmosphere encourages you to take your time. Come here to ski, but also to take in the scenery, breathe the mountain air and enjoy time together.

Ski with a view and plenty of pace!
Despite its peaceful, family-friendly feel, La Pierre Saint-Martin has a few surprises in store for more experienced skiers. The Arlas sector, in particular, offers steeper terrain and technical red and black slopes. Over in the Horizon sector, the wide red slopes and off-piste terrain are sure to delight skiers who love big, sweeping turns.
No crowds, no noise – just the slope, the fir trees and the pure pleasure of laying down clean turns in an unspoilt mountain setting. For skiers looking for something with a bit more character, this is a more challenging side of a resort that is otherwise wonderfully relaxed.

The slopes you simply can’t miss
The La Pierre Saint-Martin ski area stretches from 1,550 to 2,200 m across a surprisingly vast area, so it’s easy to overlook some of its sectors!
So which slopes should you put at the top of your list? Here’s our selection.
La Pierre Saint-Martin’s iconic slope: 5.2 km of skiing with breathtaking views of Pic d’Anie, Soum Couy and Arlas, as well as the surrounding forests and valleys. Legend has it that, on a clear day, you can even catch a glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean.
The perfect slope for families or groups of beginner skiers!
If La Pierre Saint-Martin were to host a Super-G race, this would be the slope for it. Technical yet packed with views, it delivers sweeping turns and fantastic panoramas over the resort and the Horizon sector at the top of the ski area.
A slope best suited to confident skiers, its north-facing aspect can make the snow hard at times. Perfect for a fast descent on a pair of freshly sharpened race skis!
A beautiful journey through La Pierre Saint-Martin’s mountain pine forest. A gentle, enjoyable descent for the whole family. It also takes you back to the base of the slopes or down to the bottom of the Family chairlift, where you can soak up the views from the top of the ski area or head down Boulevard des Pyrénées.
The forest version of Boulevard des Pyrénées, perfect for families, groups of beginners or simply skiers who would rather risk retina damage from the views than burn their thighs!
Race down this winding red slope as it weaves through the forests of La Pierre Saint-Martin. Steeper walls, changes in gradient and fun features are all part of this signature descent at the Barétous resort.
Its black-slope variant, ominously known simply as “La Noire”, is just as enjoyable, although a little steeper.
The technical version of Boulevard des Pyrénées: stunning views with more demanding terrain, perfect for skiers looking to combine big scenery with a proper sporting challenge.
This is where the resort’s biggest vertical descent begins! The challenge: start at the top and make it to Le Pas de l’Ours restaurant for a coffee in under five minutes!
La Pierre Saint-Martin’s competition slope. This is where racers train to improve their times during competition weekends. It also offers fantastic views over the high valleys of the Basque Country.
In short: a slope with more pace than a cha-cha, best tackled from top to bottom without stopping – and guaranteed to get those thighs burning!

Snow front - 1640m
La Pierre Saint-Martin is divided into two areas: alpine and Nordic, each with its own mountain restaurant. Two places, two atmospheres!
La Palombière
At the top of the Family chairlift, this is the only restaurant in the resort with panoramic views over the surrounding mountain scenery. The menu focuses on burgers and snacks.
Le Pas de l’Ours
Tucked away at the foot of the Family chairlift, where the ski area meets the Nordic area, this cosy mountain hut-style restaurant serves simple, hearty food. We recommend trying the Braca platter.
