Taking the train to La Pierre Saint-Martin is a great way to travel comfortably while reducing your carbon footprint. Your journey will take you to Pau TGV station, or even closer to the resort, to Oloron-Sainte-Marie.

Driving to La Pierre Saint-Martin gives you the freedom to travel at your own pace while taking in the beautiful landscapes of Béarn. The main route is via the A64 motorway: take the exit for Pau or Soumoulou, then follow signs for Oloron-Sainte-Marie and Arette along the D132, which winds its way up to the mountain pass.
The resort is designed to be explored on foot and offers large, completely free outdoor car parks throughout the resort, all within easy reach of the accommodation and slopes. Drop-off areas are also available, making it easy to unload your luggage before parking your car.
Yes. Under the French Mountain Law, from 1 November to 31 March, vehicles must be fitted with 4 winter tyres or carry removable anti-skid devices (snow chains or snow socks) in the boot when travelling on the mountain road (D132) leading to the resort.
Yes. During the winter season, Skibus services run at very attractive fares. They provide connections to the resort from Pau, Oloron-Sainte-Marie and villages in the valley, such as Arette, with some options including both transport and a ski pass.
Skibus services are also available from Bayonne, San Sebastián and Pamplona.
The closest train station is Oloron-Sainte-Marie, around 40 km away. If you're travelling by TGV from Paris or Bordeaux, the main station to use is Pau, around 75 km from the resort.
During the tourist season, regional Nouvelle-Aquitaine coach services connect Pau and Oloron-Sainte-Marie train stations with La Pierre Saint-Martin.
The La Pierre Saint-Martin mountain pass (D132), which marks the border with Spain's Roncal Valley, may be temporarily closed or subject to traffic restrictions in the event of heavy snowfall or avalanche risk. We strongly recommend checking road conditions before planning a cross-border journey in winter.
