Piau Engaly

High-mountain paradise

Opening dates

Lift opening dates: 4 July – 29 August 2026

Nestled at the gateway to the Pyrenees National Park and just a stone’s throw from the Spanish border, Piau Engaly stands as the highest ski resort in the French Pyrenees. In summer, its pedestrian-friendly, integrated architecture fades into the background, giving way to a vast natural cirque and breathtaking high-mountain scenery. Here, the atmosphere is truly wild: ski lifts fall silent, replaced by the whistle of marmots and the sound of waterfalls tumbling down steep slopes. Set in a pristine natural environment, Piau Engaly is the perfect base for exploring the mountains and fully immersing yourself in the landscape. Summer here is all about:

  • The Pyrenees National Park : with direct access to iconic hiking trails, including routes to Port de Campbieil.
  • Canyon de la Neste : offering refreshing canyoning in a dramatic natural setting
  • Vallée du Badet : an easy family walk to discover local wildlife and alpine flora
  • Easy access to Aragon : via the Aragnouet - Bielsa tunnel, leading to the spectacular canyons of Monte Perdido

“PIAU ENGALY”, our little corner of paradise. We come here to recharge every year… A superb resort where sunshine, snow and slopes are always at their best. And a big thank you to the piste groomers! With lovely local shopkeepers…

Mathieu

For winter sports: a great resort with skiing, lift passes, bakery, small grocery shop and souvenir stores right at the foot of the slopes. Large ski area. Friendly staff. Good snow. Picnic spots with a view.

Bastien

A top family-friendly resort with a dynamic activity team. Discovery of paret and biathlon 😉 In short, a resort worth discovering.

Nicolas

Grand, breathtaking and welcoming. We spent two nights at the resort in summer. Between the peaks, alpine meadows, marmots, cows and sheep grazing at altitude, the setting is incredibly peaceful.

Mickaël

Summer: a very beautiful resort, with affordable restaurant prices. We were able to fully enjoy it without any issues.

Pauline

Plenty of activities in a well-organised area: skiing, sledging, walking or snowshoeing, tubing and even igloo building. Fun for both kids and adults (who get to feel like children again!).

Colette

A lovely resort, especially in summer. Lots of hiking trails and wildlife to discover.

Clarisse

A beautiful hike to Lake Badet. We were lucky enough to see bearded vultures, vultures and marmots. Stunning landscapes.
