Summer opening

Pont d’Espagne opens from 8 May to 27 September. The car park remains open year-round. Cirque du Lys is open from 4 July to 30 August.

A renowned spa town with Belle Époque charm, Cauterets is a striking gateway to the Pyrenees National Park. In summer, the village moves from its winter ski identity to become a meeting point for lovers of wild nature and rushing mountain waters. Here, the landscape becomes truly spectacular, with roaring waterfalls and peaceful high-altitude lakes. The Pont d’Espagne site, a listed “Grand Site of Occitanie,” offers privileged access to breathtaking scenery where rock, water, and pine forests create an unforgettable backdrop. And don’t miss the Cirque du Lys Bike Park, a must for mountain biking enthusiasts.

Summer in Cauterets is an invitation to wonder and relaxation:

  • Lac de Gaube : A turquoise gem accessible by chairlift or via the GR10 trail, dominated by the imposing Vignemale peak.
  • Chemin des Cascades : A refreshing hike along the Gave de Cauterets, with spectacular waterfalls along the way.
  • Vallée du Marcadau : A vast pastoral plateau, perfect for families and hikers in search of wide-open spaces.
  • Wellness : Les Bains du Rocher offers a relaxing thermal break after a day of hiking.

That's so Cauterets

Beautiful ski resort. The cirque where the resort is located is stunning and the views are breathtaking. As one of the highest resorts in the Pyrenees, it is also among the snowiest.

Antoine

In summer, it is really beautiful. We haven’t tried it in winter yet. We took the gondola with a stop near a restaurant, then the chairlift up to the Ilhéou pass. From the top, you can see Lake Ilhéou. The views are incredible! From there, it’s about 40 minutes of easy walking to the pass and around 1h15 to the lake. A truly amazing landscape.

Marjo

A small resort in terms of ski runs, but well maintained, with a restaurant at the base and a snack point on the slopes. At the top, sun loungers are available to enjoy the view. The town is compact and has a thermal spa area that helps you relax and recharge for the next day.

Kevin

Very nice in summer. A charming spa town with beautiful houses. Plenty of music events and shows. The Friday morning market is great, with lots of local producers. Many hiking trails start directly from the village, no car needed.

Lydie

A lovely family-friendly resort, with sledging, skiing and snowboarding. A welcoming atmosphere, a restaurant with a mountain-view terrace, ski lockers and very clean facilities. Very charming overall.

Edwige

Everything is designed for a great stay: friendly shops, varied slopes and family-friendly activities. With the Cauterets pass, you can also access Pont d’Espagne (about 20 minutes by car).

Jazz

In summer, easy access by gondola and chairlift to the summit. Stunning views over the valley and the Pyrenees. You can reach the orientation table to identify the peaks. In the morning, the valley can be covered in clouds and you “rise above them” into the sun — an unforgettable experience.

Robert

A very good ski resort with slopes for all levels, efficient lifts and a wide range of restaurants, cafés, picnic areas, ski lockers and a kids’ club. When the weather and snow are good, it’s a real treat.

Matthieu

Great for MTB, trail running or hiking. Perfect for families or friends. The thermal baths offer massages, hammam and hot baths. Prices are generally reasonable and there are some great places to eat. Highly recommended.

Eric

Family stay in Cauterets. Everything is close by: ski rental, restaurants, bars, spas… We parked the car on Friday and didn’t use it again until departure on Sunday.
