Nestled in the heart of the Pays Toy, the Luz Ardiden ski area is a true alpine skiing gem, with wide-open slopes, 360° panoramic views and an incredible sense of freedom. Ideally located at the crossroads of the Pyrenees, this ski area is made for getting out there and enjoying every moment on the snow. And yes, we really mean it!
With 3 distinct sectors — Aulian, Bédéret and Caperette Cloze —, the Luz Ardiden ski area has something for every type of skier. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced skier, its 60 km of slopes offer plenty to enjoy, from accessible terrain for those discovering the joys of skiing to varied, more challenging descents in a high-mountain setting. Here, every turn comes with spectacular views across the Pyrenees, from Pic du Midi to Viscos and beyond.

Aulian Sector
The heart of the ski area
Aulian Sector is the heart of the Luz Ardiden ski area. Served by the Aulian Express high-speed chairlift, it offers the widest variety of slopes in the ski area and is the ideal gateway to all the different sectors.
Aulian Sector is the ski area’s main hub, giving you easy access to both Bédéret and Caperette Cloze. Its slopes, ranging from 1,730 to 2,100m, offer exceptional 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountains: Pic du Midi, Col du Tourmalet, the Troumouse Cirque, the Néouvielle Nature Reserve, Pic du Viscos, Caperette and, above all, the surrounding valleys. The views are simply spectacular! The base area also gives you access to all the ski area’s facilities and services, including a restaurant, snack bar, toilets, snowpark, beginner zone, activities and more.
Bédéret sector
The balcony of the ski area
Bédéret is the ski area’s balcony, with views across the Pyrenees, the surrounding valleys and the mountains beyond. Set apart from the rest of the ski area, it has a peaceful, wild feel. It’s also from here that you can ski La Belle Bleue from its highest point.
Caperette Cloze Sector
The ski area’s high-mountain sector
Caperette Cloze is the sector you have to earn your way to! Its remote location, challenging terrain and altitude all add to the experience. Located at the highest point of the Luz Ardiden ski area, it is the resort’s high-mountain sector. But trust us, the challenge is worth it!
Made up entirely of red and black slopes and offering an impressive 800m vertical drop, this sector is home to some of the ski area’s finest terrain for experienced skiers.
Split in two by Caperette, the right-hand side features wide red slopes overlooking the rest of the ski area, while the left-hand side opens onto an impressive cirque, home to the Cloze chairlift and the steepest slopes in the ski area. Special mention goes to Perdrix!
It is also the gateway to some of the resort’s best freeride descents, including the Bernazaou descent, a legendary freeride route in the Pays Toy and Hautes-Pyrénées.
N’PY tip: for your safety, we recommend going with an ESF instructor or mountain guide so you can make the most of this area.

Make memories in the snow
Although Luz Ardiden has a strong sporting character, the ski area hasn’t forgotten about families and beginner skiers. With a beginner zone at the base of the slopes, dedicated sledging slopes with their own lifts, a progressive snowpark and two sectors with some fantastic blue slopes, families will have plenty to enjoy at Luz Ardiden this winter.

The slopes you simply can’t miss
The Luz Ardiden ski area is a major ski area in the Hautes-Pyrénées, right in the heart of the Pays Toy and the Gavarnie Valleys! But which slopes should be top of your Toy-list? We’ve picked out our favourites for you!
The most iconic slope in the Pays Toy ski area. This blue slope winds its way down the slopes of Luz Ardiden for almost 5 km.
From viewpoints and rugged peaks to sweeping views down over the valley, this is the slope that takes you through the widest variety of scenery in the resort. Pic du Midi, Pic du Viscos, the Vallée des Gaves valley, the Cauterets valley, Capérette... you’ll see it all!
Starting at the top of the Aulian Express, the red slopes of Lisey 1 & 2 offer a more challenging alternative to La Belle Bleue.
This wide, steep wall is a great challenge for beginner skiers looking to push themselves, while experienced skiers heading towards Caperette - Cloze will have to tackle it. A must for anyone who loves charging straight down the fall line or laying down big, sweeping turns!
From the top of the Caperette chairlift, the red Badette slope is a treat for both the eyes and the legs.
Starting its descent through the gap linking the two sides of the sector, Badette alternates between skiing through a cirque, impressive walls and sections across the mountain face. Special mention goes to the sequence of turns halfway down, which makes skiers feel as though they’re racing down one of the finest downhill courses on the World Cup circuit!
What more can we say? If you want to reach the top of the resort, you’ll have to take this spectacular slope!
A narrow red slope traversing the mountainside as it winds down through the Cloze cirque. And if you’re looking for something even more hardcore, there’s the black Perdrix, which takes the direct route down a seriously steep gradient!
