In the heart of the Central Pyrenees, the Peyragudes ski resort was inaugurated in 1988 with the merger of two resorts, Peyresourde and Les Agudes. Surrounded by peaks of up to 3,000 metres, it extends over 1,500 hectares, with altitudes between 1,600 metres and 2,400 metres, overlooking the beautiful valley of the Louron.
Peyragudes offers authentic tourism, with the opportunity to discover the mountain way of life, its traditional crafts and local gastronomy, together with high quality accommodation, with a total of 9,000 visitor beds.
In winter, a high-tech resort for everyone
Your skiing holiday in Peyragudes is firstly about cutting edge new facilities. The Peyragudes ski station is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. A pioneer in artificial snow making, it is also a leader in piste grooming via GPS. Skiing carpets are provided in the beginners’ areas, there are detachable chairlifts and rechargeable ski-passes, allowing you more time for skiing, even for a weekend!
But skiing in Peyragudes is also about two slopes straddling two departments, which is to say that the pistes are always sunny. For extreme sports enthusiasts (snowpark, boardercross, etc.), Peyragaudes has its Vallée Blanche, a separated off-piste route of 6 kilometres.
And finally, your holiday in Peyragudes is also a broad range of sporting and fun activities ; snowshoeing, dog sledding, an opportunity to ride in a piste groomer after the pistes have closed to understand the work of the snow groomers, an unusual night in an igloo, speed riding, airboarding, ‘Snake Gliss’ (linked sledging), Yooner, a visit to the snow factory, Préhistirs (snow archery)…and Balnéa, the number one spa and relaxation centre in the French Pyrenees, with its special skier programme.
In summer, it’s sports and unusual games
Whether you are young or not-so-young, looking for a relaxing holiday or a hyper-active one, Peyragudes will introduce you to or coach you in unusual sports and games ; hiking or mountain biking, rock climbing, canyoning, rafting, hydrospeeding, paragliding, pony trekking… as well as themed outings, mountain scooter riding, adventure courses, hiking with dogs, archery and fishing. Now that is active tourism!
