Pic du Midi

Spice up your skiing holiday by living the Pic de Midi experience! Accessible to all, the Pic du Midi ski resort is renowned for its beauty and landscape and is equally famous for its astronomical observatory.

From La Mongie, two chair lifts take you to an altitude of 2,877 metres in 15 minutes to discover the most beautiful panorama of the Pyrenees.

Ever higher! The 100% freeride resort

Welcome to the biggest freeride area in the Pyrenees. Enthusiasts can enjoy a 1,700 metre elevation especially reserved for them in the form of two slopes. Firstly, the slope from Mongie to Artigues-Campan offers a piste descending 10km. A free shuttle bus (reservation necessary) takes you to the foot of the pistes. Then there is the slope from Barèges to the Tourmalet ski-lift. This is the experienced skier’s dream. A good understanding of the high mountain is indispensable, as these spaces are unsupervised, unmanaged and unfenced.  So as to benefit from expert advice and get the most out of this magnificent descent, we recommend that you ski accompanied by a professional.

A holiday rich in discovery

Its situation at the forefront of the Pyrenees mountain chain and its high altitude make the Pic du Midi ski resort an extraordinary panoramic viewpoint for tourists. From above you can see the Pyrenean mountain range from Catalonia to the Basque Country. From east to west, the horizon opens up on over 300 kilometres of mountains. From the large 750m² terrace, the view falls away to the north over the whole south-western plain as far as the first foothills of the Massif Central.

On site, you can visit the museum, retracing the fascinating history of the Observatory’s construction.
And then why not indulge yourself in a drink at the champagne bar, a traditional dinner, or even an evening or a night spent on the mountain top in a luxurious hotel, admiring the stars and the celestial canopy…
